More Supermarkets are advertising their own-branded products as a low-cost alternative to branded goods, in a bid to help shoppers beat the credit crunch and spend less whilst they shop.

Sainsbury’s have recently launches their Switch and Save advertising campaign, promoting their own products as a cheaper alternative to help those with debt management issues. The company says that sales of their own-brand goods have increased by 6% over the past year, double the rate of branded goods.

Tesco are not far behind with an email and television campaign which shows how online shoppers can click on cheaper own-brand alternative to their favourite products, in order to help them save money.

Meanwhile budget supermarket Aldi have launched a podcast fronted by TV chef Phil Vickery, showing how families can cook healthy meals for under £10.
