Is bankruptcy the right choice for me?
- Get all your debts to creditors cleared
- Make a fresh financial start
Considering making yourself bankrupt or worried about being made bankrupt?
Speak to Harrington Brooks for advice.
Note: Bankruptcy should only be considered in extreme circumstances after advice has been taken from a trustworthy source and all other avenues explored.
Bankruptcy is a beginning - not an end.
If bankruptcy is inevitable, the longer it is delayed the worse your financial position is likely to be. There is little point in struggling to pay creditors for another 3 months, making the extent of your problems worse, when that money could be put to better use later.
- A definite outcome
Once discharged from bankruptcy, you'll be debt free - this is guaranteed (exceptions apply, see debts excluded).
- You repay only part of what you owe
Creditors have to accept less money than is owed. They have no choice other than to accept your bankruptcy.
- No more letters and phone calls
Once the bankruptcy order has been made, creditors and other bodies you owe may not pursue you for your debts.
- You get to make a fresh financial start
While there are serious consequences to bankruptcy, these debts are put behind you and you can start to look forward to the future with more financial stability.
- Less stigma as it becomes increasingly commonplace
You are not alone. Approximately 10,000 individuals from England and Wales go bankrupt every 3 months. Most will complete financial rehabilitation in the fullness of time.

Should the outcome be that you want to make yourself bankrupt, we offer a bankruptcy service (fee payable) which guides you through this process. The aim of our service is maximising the outcome of the bankruptcy on our client's behalf and to reduce stress.
We'll handle correspondence with creditors, assist you in completing all the paper work and lodging the petition at your local court.
Why Use Our Service?
It can save you time, stress and potentially money. The bankruptcy can be delayed if all documentation is not properly checked for correctness and completeness before submission to the court. Errors and omissions can raise the chances of queries being made at Court, prompting a fuller judicial review into your financial affairs.
